Case Study 01 — Outdoor Festival

Open-Air Electronic Festival — Three Stages, Twelve Days

Germany’s summer festival season does not wait for good weather. The promoter wanted a main-stage rig that could stay rigged and powered through twelve days of rain instead of being bagged and struck every night — without doubling the generator budget.

The brief

  • Weather exposure. Nine of the twelve show days had rain. Every fixture on the three exposed trusses had to run uncovered, unattended, overnight.
  • Load-in window. The site gave 36 hours to rig three stages. Conventional bagging and de-rigging each night was not an option.
  • Power budget. Two 125 A generators fed the whole site. The rig had to be re-specified around a hard 60 kW ceiling per stage.
  • Fault visibility. With 168 fixtures spread over 200 m of field, the crew needed to find a dead unit from FOH instead of walking the site.

What we delivered

  • IP65 where it matters. SL-IP-B400, SL-IP-W400 and SL-IP-H600 bodies with sealed optics and conformal-coated drivers on all exposed positions; standard bodies only under the stage roof.
  • Generator load model. We delivered a per-position current draw table so the site electrician could balance phases before load-in, not during it.
  • RDM monitoring. Two SL-C2 controllers distributed Art-Net and polled every fixture — fixture status, temperature and hours visible from FOH.
  • Pre-rigged trusses. Fixtures shipped clamped and cabled on pre-built truss sections in flight cases, cutting the rig time per stage to about 12 hours.

A 3-in-1 hybrid platform let the designer hold beam, spot and wash looks across eight weeks of venues without changing the fixture count on the truss — or the truck pack.

The brief

  • Variable trims. Trim height ranged from 9 m to 16 m between venues. Fixed-beam rigs either punched through or died in the air.
  • Truck pack limits. Two 13.6 m trailers for the whole show. Every additional fixture type meant another case and another case meant another truck.
  • Colour consistency. Fixtures from three production batches had to match on camera across the whole leg.
  • Spares strategy. A failure in week seven could not end the tour. The spares kit had to be defined before load-out, not after.

What we delivered

  • One platform, three roles. SL-H400 hybrids on the mid truss covered beam, gobo and wash, removing a whole fixture type from the pack.
  • Batch binning report. All 151 units shipped from a single LED bin with a measured colour report, so replacement units matched on sight.
  • Unified firmware. Every fixture left on identical firmware with a single personality file, so a swap on the road needed no re-patching.
  • Defined spares kit. A 10% allocation with a case map — the crew knew which case to open at 2 a.m. in a foreign arena.

Over two seasons we replaced four mixed-brand generations of moving lights with six RiGeBa Lighting families — and cut the spare-parts catalogue from 38 SKUs to nine.

The brief

  • Four generations of stock. Beam, spot and wash came from three different brands bought between 2015 and 2022. Nothing shared a spare part or a personality.
  • Spare-parts overhead. 38 active spare SKUs tied up working capital and shelf space for parts that moved twice a year.
  • Prep time. Every fixture type had its own prep routine. Technicians were retrained per brand, and prep errors went out on trucks.
  • Colour matching. Mixed bins meant a truck pack from two different years never matched on site.

  • Common internals. PSU, main board, fan and LED module are shared across the SL-B family — one spare set covers three models.
  • Six families, not sixteen. The fleet consolidated onto B, H, W, PAR, pixel and control families covering every job type the house books.
  • Technician training. Two on-site sessions covering service, firmware update and RDM workflow for the whole workshop team.
  • RDM inventory workflow. Fixture hours and fault logs now drive the service schedule instead of a clipboard.

Case Study 04 — Theatre Refit

Municipal Theatre — Tungsten to LED Refit

A 620-seat civic theatre moved off a 1990s tungsten inventory in six weeks. The brief was not brightness — it was silence, dimmer-rack removal and skin tones the resident companies would accept.

The brief

  • Noise floor. FOH bars sit 6 m from the front row. Anything above ~28 dBA was audible during quiet scenes.
  • Skin tones. Resident opera and drama companies rejected previous LED trials on R9. The refit had to satisfy the lighting designers, not the spreadsheet.
  • Existing infrastructure. Six dimmed circuits per position. Re-cabling the grid was not in the budget.
  • Fixed install window. Six weeks between the summer closure and the first rehearsal, including focusing.

What we delivered

  • Fanless fresnels. SL-F200 and SL-F300 run convection-cooled — measured 24 dBA at the FOH bar, below the room’s own noise floor.
  • Photometric study first. We modelled the 14 m stage width for even coverage before a single fixture shipped, and sized the FOH positions from the lux plot.
  • Reuse of existing wiring. New DMX distribution ran alongside the old dimmed circuits, so the grid was not re-cabled.
  • Focus and handover. Two days on site for focusing, preset writing and a handover session with the venue technicians.

Case Study 05 — Club & DJ

Nightclub Relaunch — Pixel-First Room Design

A 700 m² main room with a 3.4 m ceiling. Long-throw movers were never going to work, so the room was designed around pixel surfaces, short-throw wash and two laser systems.

The brief

  • Ceiling height. At 3.4 m trim a 2° beam has nowhere to go. The room needed coverage and movement, not throw.
  • Heat load. The venue’s existing AC could not absorb another 30 kW of lighting on a full room.
  • Different every night. The operator wanted twelve distinct looks pre-built, so a Tuesday resident and a Saturday guest DJ do not look identical.
  • Cable paths. No accessible ceiling void over the dance floor — wireless and battery fixtures were the only option for wall positions.

What we delivered

  • Pixel-first layout. A ceiling grid of SL-P1000 bars plus an SL-P1500 façade behind the booth gives the room its movement without any long-throw fixture.
  • Wireless uplighting. SL-PARWAUV battery units on the perimeter with wireless DMX — no cable runs, no holes in a listed building.
  • Twelve programmed looks. Looks, chases and timecode triggers were pre-programmed and handed over on the SL-C2, with a written cue sheet.
  • Thermal budget. Total installed draw held at 18 kW, inside the existing AC capacity.

Case Study 06 — Church & Worship

Multi-Site Church — Broadcast-Ready Sanctuary Package

Four campuses, one standard package. The lighting had to hold skin tones at 5600K for the camera while staying bright enough for congregational singing — and be operable by volunteers.

The brief

  • Camera first. The stream is the front door. Skin tones had to hold at 5600K with no green shift and no flicker at 60 fps and 120 fps.
  • Volunteer operation. The Sunday operator is a volunteer with ten minutes of training. Presets had to be one button, not a cue stack.
  • Congregational light. House light for singing has to be bright enough to read a book without washing out the stage.
  • Replication. The same package had to drop into four rooms of different sizes without a redesign each time.

  • Standard package. One fixture schedule repeated across all four campuses, with per-room quantity scaling from the photometric study.
  • One-button presets. Six scenes written into each SL-C1: preaching, worship, baptisms, communion, stream-only and clean-up.
  • Flicker-free drivers. High-frequency PWM verified at 60/120/240 fps before shipment, with the test report in the delivery pack.

In most cases yes. We supply colour binning data, DMX personality files and RDM information so our fixtures can be integrated into a mixed-brand inventory, and we can tune dimmer curves and white point to match an existing rig on larger orders.

Every project quotation includes a recommended spare-parts kit, typically 3–5% of fixture count. We guarantee parts availability for seven years after the final shipment of a project, and most service parts are field-swappable without returning the unit.

Your team or your local integrator does, with our support. We provide the rigging data, DMX plan and power schedule, then commission remotely or on site depending on project size. Operator training and a written handover are included.

Yes — housing finish, silkscreen and branding, firmware behaviour, DMX personalities, packaging and localised manuals. Customisation typically adds 15–20 days to the lead time and applies from a minimum order quantity agreed per project.

There is no fixed project MOQ. Sample and evaluation orders start at one unit; project pricing and OEM terms apply from roughly 50 fixtures per model. Mixed-container orders across multiple models are normal and help you hit the price break.

Send the serial number and a short fault description. We ship a replacement first for anything show-critical, then diagnose the returned unit. Failures caused by manufacturing defects are covered in full including freight on agreed terms.
